Hey, just wanted to let everyone know that the Nags Head Inn did refund the entire stay, and I made the donation to the Breast Cancer Foundation that I mentioned in the previous post. (And since the Nags Head Inn really was entitled to the charges for the first two nights, the view from my "angry little world" is that they made the donation.) I haven't heard anything from them that makes me think they'll behave any differently in the future, so I won't be requesting the removal of my posts. (I still think people need to know what to expect.) Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks for the support, and pass along this review that was recently posted on tripadvisor.com. It appears that they are still big on rules.
Our Labor Day weekend day-trip to the Outer Banks was such fun we decided to find a hotel and stay another day..... We should have kept looking.
The Nags Head Inn sign offers "fine accomodations", we found them to be adequate, recently updated, but not "fine", and the management certainly less than accomodating when it came to our dogs and teenaged sons.
Our sons are reasonably well-behaved teenagers, but they felt they "were watched like felons", whenever they moved through the lobby, or from the beach across the parking lot to the pool. Not exactly "southern hospitality".
We saw the "No Pets Allowed" sign posted behind the postcard rack; and did NOT take our dogs into the hotel at any time. They were crated overnight in our van. The problems started when they were leashed and taken across the property from the parking lot to a public beach access walkway. We were approached by a manager and told that the dogs could not be ON the property, not even in our own vehicle. They may have had "issues" with previous pet owners, but they certainly did NOT with us that day, and will not ever again. Even when traveling sans canine, we will look elsewhere for our accomodations next time.
