The Fling Charters facebook page often has trip reports. This past weekend I was DM and the trip was good. Water is warm, low 80's to bottom. Me and several others dived in swimsuit and shirt, even the weenies were warm in 3mm. Waves were mild, gentle 3' at the worst, minimal ladder dunking. Current was mostly mild, a little brisk on surface at Stetson, easily manageable. Viz was excellent, at least 100' on all sites with little particulate in water. People reported a few mantas, stingrays, and sharks on East Bank, HI-389, and Stetson. Fun group of people, good times.

Thanks for report RH, sounds like a good trip was made........Saw their FB page the other day---with the WS pic.....Will keep up there till we head out......

Not until the end of August-------?the 23rd maybe(on a weekend), the one with True Blue out of Lake Charles, La...........

Cool. I'm DM on that trip.

Hey, sounds great--can't wait to meet up......I'll be buddying up with Brian Landry(leading the True Blue group for the trip) that weekend......Look forward to it, just have all the 'criters' tied up & marked for the dives...:).....We'll talk more when time gets nearer I'm sure.....

Just got back last night from the Aug2-3 trip. I was blown away by this trip. It was better than I could have imagined. Had watched a bunch of you tube videos and read a lot of stuff here on scuba board to prepare for the trip. The coral was amazing lots of life, thought it was comparable if not better than Caymans.
Looked over to check on my buddy and he had found a better buddy than me and had not realized it. Till he looked at me and I pointed saying "hhhhbbbledght"( sounded something like that). He finally looked the other way seeing the large manta ray gliding next to him.
The only time we had a slight current was our rig dive. Surfaced after our first dive and it was raining so we got our gear rinsed. Seas were maybe 1-2 feet,
I'm a chummer so I got a prescription from my doc for the scop patch and also used bonine . Didn't feel bad the whole trip.
I read in previous post listen to your briefings from the DMs and do what they tell you. We did and we had some great dives.
Those ladies in the galley were amazing for the meals that they produced in both quality and quantity.
The bunks were tight but I slept like a baby.
The crew was more than happy to help you in anyway they could, they did not hide from divers and were happy to tell stories with you if they had time.
If any new divers read this know that the later trips in the year are "usually" a little easier than the early trips of the year. But the early trips are great for seeing hammerheads.
Also since you have to book through certain dive shops they have trip leaders that go and are usually more than glad to help you.

Thanks for the report Whodat----sounds like it was a great trip..........Those manta's can be very sneaky, @ times.......Here's part of the last 5 minutes of our 1st dive of a trip, ?2010, EDIT:2009 I now see, lol---2 couples below us were busy taking pics(of the bottom) & we never got their attention ---&--- they never saw it.......All 4 after the dive back on the boat said 'you're lying' & my buddy & I said no, here's the evidence....(it came directly under the boat @ the mooring rope..)
