Just moved to Southport, NC and after getting 2 quotes from the only 2 guys that I have found in a 20 mile radius from my house on fills, thought I would start looking for a used compressor. Not to say that I am ungrateful for their offer, but for 32% at $16 and $20 per fill, well, lets just say I have enough trouble swallowing the boat fuel bill, I am not looking to blow anther $60 every time we dive 3 tanks. usually every other weekend.
Before I get crushed on not knowing what the heck I want in specific and reading alot of threads on here, this is what I have narrowed it down to.
Would prefer a electric motor but would convert a gas.
Probably will be filling 150 tanks a yr max or less. (sure a few buddies will want to start getting an occasional fill)
Nitrox will be the primary fills.
I would like to keep it in the 2k and under range.
Would like to have an auto drain system.
It doesn't need to be portable, have a shop to put it in and no close neighbors.
Don't believe that I want an old military one.
Tank fills won't be higher than 3500 - 3700.
Slow fills are ok as long as a tank isn't going to take more than about 45min to an hour each.
Would like to be able to fill 2 tanks at a time but I can't no big deal.
Now after reading this, let me know if I am asking for the impossible or not. The purpose for this is just to get the word out that Iam looking in the event anyone comes across a good deal on one.
I am mechanically inclined and can usually be walked thru just about anything.
Have a local buddy that fills his own and has offered to assist in setup.
Would like opinions on brands to stay away from along with which ones to look for.
I am not in a huge rush, but would like to find something this season
Bird dog could be a diving trip if you come to the area with free tank fills.
P.S. If you speardive, I have spots that will knock your socks off.
