I'm going to be purchasing a reel soon.
I would like to know what you folks consider a good reel and why.
Something in the 150-300 foot range should be fine for my needs.
Thanks

But I came across this one the other day. Does anyone who uses reels regularly have a veiw on this? It appears to be a Manta Jr.

Thanks

Hey Diver Dude,

The Manta Jr is our most popular reel. It's available with either 185' or 250' of line. It is very user friendly.

My question to you is, what will you be using it for; wreck, cave, SMB's? The other brands mentioned, while are good reels, they are more suited for cave diving.

If you have any questions contact me.

Thanks - Greg

I just got a Salvo reel and it's a beautiful piece of work, I have to recommend it.

I'll be using this reel for wreckdiving and smb's, no cave diving.

Then your choice of reel doesn't matter. Go for the Manta orDiverite, well-made for wreck - 250' is perfect.

I have a related, follow-on question. For wreck diving, what size line should you use?

I noticed the Manta Jr. comes with 185' of #30 or 250' of #24. Is #24 strong enough for wreck, or do you need #30 or even #36? I'll be diving this July off the coast of NC and I'll need reels, of course. The Manta's sound like an excellent choice. Now I'm trying to decide on the line size.
