Congrats on your decision to open up the "doors" to the other 2/3rds of the world we live in.
Other than the basics (mask, fins, & snorkel), don't be in a rush to get all of your gear. Like others have said, it's best if you wait and try out different gear to see what works best for you before investing in it. You'll be happier in the long run if you do.
