SpKelpDiver and I squeezed in a much needed dive at Long Point, Marineland today. The swell forecast was showing solid conditions so the plan was to enter & exit at the point. While suiting up the wind began to increase so we opted to exit at the cove, just incase the wind increased to a level which made a point exit dangerous. Visibility was a dark 15ft with lots of suspended particles. Water was 55 at the surface but a chilly 52 at depth. An incredible variety of critters out at the pinnacles today! While taking shots of LingCod, Cabazon, Scorpionfish and various nudis, Charlie and I were bombarded by a large sea lion. I tried to shoot video of his acrobatics but his quick movements up and down through the water column made it impossible. The dive plan was to stay at the Pinnacles for as long as possible and then shoot into the shallows of the Garden for the swim back into the cove. At about 1800 psi we ventured up from the depths to about 35ft and cruised parallel to shore. It was here that Charlie spotted a large Fried Egg Jellyfish at the top of the water column. Both of us had taken Allegra that morning to combat congestion, so ascending for photos was called off. As we reached the cove we spotted another Fried Egg but due to so many suspended particles, photography was made impossible. As many times as I explore Marineland there is always something new & exciting to photograph / observe.
Here are some highlights from the dive:

Love the shot of Charlie looking at the cabezon from behind. Did you set that up, or were you just incredibly lucky?

Thanks:D Before the dive we talked about setting up that shot if possible. We had done it once before on the 120 reef with a rockfish.

Those are terrific shots, Frank! Really nice fish faces.

Thank you for another interesting dive report. I especially like the two tailing Acanthodoris lutea. It's uncommon to see two of those guys together.

Thx Merry. I was surprised to see them paired up together. Then again spring love is in the air or this case water ;).

Happy to see the Supersized snorkle stayed in the gear bag. :)

Those went the way of jacketed bcd's and standard hose setups.

Glad to see you and Charlie are still diving with a passion
Charlie and I have had our shifting hobbies through our friendship together but diving is a passion that will last through our lives. The exploration of the unknown and fascination of our natural environment is something we deeply connect with. See you in June!:D

Nice pictures Frank! That was an awesome dive. Too bad the Sea Lion was so fast, would have been cool to have a picture of him.

Elena! Looking forward to hanging out with you at the scuba show!
