Has anyone been diving/snorkeling at Long Point Beach recently in Provincetown. I used to rent a boat from Flyers Boat Rentals and snorkel all the time out there. Beautiful place really...especially for New England. I haven't been there in a few years and I was wondering if its the same or if the sand dollar population has deminished? Also, does anyone know when that shipwreck was from that can be seen from the beach facing P-town? It had deminished a great deal each time I went...

Hey there shotthebreeze,
We dive Long Point pretty much every weekend in the Spring-Fall! It is beautiful, we think the 'inside' is a little creepy sometimes, but very cool. It looks different every week we dive. There are some sand dollars, but from your comment, I think that they're not as abundant as you remember.
I think the shipwreck you're referring to is the Flyer. Not sure how long it's been there but I would guess about 50 years.
There is a very creepy wreck towards the point in about 30-50 feet, depending on the tide that just sneaks up on you in the poor vis. There are some monster lobsters hiding out in there!
The sealife is good at Long Point, stripers, horseshoe crabs all over the place, and dogfish that swim with you. Last year we came upon 3 squid just hovering and looking at us! It was excellent.

It's a dive unlike no other, very interesting and one of our favorites!
