Anyone know what the water temp is like this time of year (say at around 60' or so)?

Got invited to do a couple of dives at the end of the month and the coldest water I've been in is 50 degrees with a 5mil....any colder than that and I may have to back out.

Thanks in advance for the help.

if you have an iphone or android get an app "bouydata" the bouy 44025 says the following:
wind today was E (80 deg)
speed: 17.5 knots
Wind Gust: 19.4 knots
Sig wave height: 3.9 ft
Mean Wave Dir: E (90 deg)
Water Temp: 45.3deg F (7.4 deg C)
Ait temp: 44.4 deg F

I use this to check US water states for planning and also use the The Sharp Tides App to plan the time to dive......

Hope this helps.

Go to
University of Connecticut Marine Sciences - MYSound
all the info you want.

In the Sound, the trigger temp for vis is 45F below that the alge is dormant and falls out of the water column, above 45 and we start to see blooms. This year should be good for vis in the Sound as we have had little runoff, you might get 20-25 foot of vis in mid-sound and might even see that off of Stratford and Milford.
