Long hose setup with Miflex?

I put one on my pony and it's not all that flexible especially when pressurized. I can see where it may not form arcs as naturally and may have added friction when wrapped around you.

I found the Miflex long hose wants to go all over the place when doing a backward roll entry, other than that, no problems.

I concur and find it too light for the long hose, tends to lift right over your head on entries or in current, much more than conventional hose does. Great for shorter lengths though, so I use a combination of both Miflex and rubber hoses.

Oh Exhibit A for what I was talking about when it comes to the floaty hose air sharing issue with miflex:

I just have a Miflex for my backup reg. I needed to angle my MK25's steeply down for head clearance which crimped the regular hose.

+1 I had issues with this as well with my MK25s.

I've done air-shares with several people using Miflex long hoses, and I don't like them. I have found them much more difficult to handle in that setting.

I'm with Lynne and others - not crazy about Miflex for the 7' hose. The Miflex hoses coil/bend very easily, but are torsionally stiff, so it really doesn't want to twist when you donate your primary reg.

I've used a 5' Miflex for vacation diving, and found it too floaty as well.

So for the long hoses I'm back to old fashioned rubber. But as others, I use Miflex for the shorter hoses that - in particular for doubles - require sharp bends.

I wish they'd make a 28" LP hose for my back-up reg for doubles. 26" is just a tad too short.

My Cavern instructor told me that he did not mind my use of Miflex for my hoses, so long as when I come back for Intro, I have a regular long hose. I have done a few simulated OOA scenarios with my 7' Miflex hose and found that what others are saying to be true. For my doubles set up I will have a regular hose and for my single set up, I will keep the Miflex.

Interesting how complex the quest of finding the right hose is !
I tend to agree with above: milflex for 7' is not optimum. But funny enough, it seems better (for me) in single with a 5' milflex.
If Milflex are best for backup and inflator, the length of the hose is a bigger deal, and for one setup i needed a 20" which doesnt exist in milflex so ended up with a regular 20'' ...
Many seem to unlike the milflex HP, but I prefer it this way: a 24" regular hose is slightly too short, while a 24" milflex is more flexible...

Eventually, I was able to pack 3 set of regs with mostly milflex (except 1x7" regular, 1 back up 20", 1 inflator and 1 HP regular) into 1 reg bag. I don't think it would have been possible with only regular hoses.

Now, to make the equation more fun: what about the new Phantom ;-)

This has been a great discussion guys. A lot of the problems you guys have experienced were some of the worries I had about using a 7' Miflex hose. I think I will use standard hose for 7' reg and SPG and use Miflex for backup reg and BC inflator hose. Many thanks to all.
