I live in Santa Cruz and have been certified for about 10 years now.

Some friends and I are getting a group together to dive from Santa Cruz to Monterey, a total distance of about 40 miles. (There's really no point to it except to do it.) We'd stay at around 20-30 feet the entire time and probably do it in relay fashion.

Just wondering if anyone has ever done anything like this, and if anyone has a guess as to how long one tank might last.

Thanks!

In our limited testing at the Tahoe Bechmark test track, we have found a very experienced diver will travel 100 to 110 fpm, with a RMV of 0.55 cfm. In a dry suit and a single tank, BP/W and paddle fins.

There ya go.

All the best, James
