No smoking in bars since 2008??

Riviera Maya News -- As of January 15, smoking in all pubic spaces along with the promotion and sponsorship of tobacco, is against the law.

After the debacle at Alegra?, the fire, the non working water pumps etc - it seemed like the city did a rash crack down on inspections for some bars/restaraunts - Tony B's was shut down for a day and I heard it was for smoking inside the bar. There were a few other places closed for a short time with that famous big sticker across the door. El Presidente is a non smoking property....

I think it's one of those things that will soon catch on here, it is just slower to catch on. 22 years ago you could smoke virtually anywhere in the Monterray airport, I'm sure that is way different now....

All rules here seem loosely enforced.....

What about just walking down the street? Is that a public place? Cruise people are going to complain and it will be loosely enforced like Chuck said.

Well it looks like the major infastructure project of fixing the sewer pipe under Melgar will be addressed starting in late February (hopefully after Carnival). The gross sewage issue on Melgar at port Langosta has been an ongoing issue. Hopefully they proceed in a rapid manner and don't block Melgar for the maximum interval. I have my doubts.

Tourist diver missing today at the end of Cedral / beginning of Santa Rosa from the Aqua Diver boat - reported missing very fast it seems - hope for a good outcome. I hear mixed reports on currents today, some said crazy, some said tranquilo....

Just a week ago we lost a fisherman up North....

Nothing this morning, still looking.

A bunch of talk about the currents yesterday. Seems that most places was normal but at Cedral wall in the afternoon it was booming, Santa Rosa was booming and slightly out and down. One DM was pulled to 120 at Santa Rosa. The surface in that area had signs of strange currents - this is all coming from DM's with 20+ years experience here and that were in that area at the time.

Always hoping for a good ending....
