Well, let me start this off by saying I LOVE SEAFOOD particularly Lobster!! Next, let me say that I have never gone diving for Lobster. It sounds fun! Where in Canada or in the United States is known for diving these TASTY critters!? I don't know any of the particulars of this kind of thing either. Any info would be gooood! : )

Thanks in advance!

I've heard that they can be found in Florida and various locations along the left coast but I can tell you for sure that THERE ARE NO LOBSTERS TO BE FOUND ANYWHERE IN NEW ENGLAND. We simply don't have them. Not even in grocery stores.

Incidently, you mentioned Maine. If they had them (which they don't), it would in fact be illegal to dive for them. The same goes for NH.

There are none down here either. Don't even bother looking. Especially in Florida and Alabama.

JWR, I think the same rule applies in lobster hunting as it does in deer hunting.... hunt wherever the locals say there are no deer.

Massachusetts has a recreational permit that makes it legal for residents holding one to dive for lobsters, but you do have to be a resident to get the permit. As was previously mentioned, Maine and New Hampshire don't allow it at all. Penalties for illegal lobster hunting can be severe... in Massachusetts, it can get your dive gear, car, and/or boat confiscated, and you may face a large fine in addition.

No, I understand! I'm just trying to find a place where I can do it! I get around quite a bit. I am from Texas, lived most of my life in Canada, but I am now living in the Czech Republic. So, I get around. I just would like to find a place where I CAN do it. It sounds like it would be a lot of fun!

Come on! You're not being very helpful! I lived a year in St.Petersburg.
I know that there are alot of places around the country but I most likely will have only a one time chance this year to do it. So, I would like to be able to make the Best of it. : )

There are NO LOBSTERS in West Palm Florida! Lobsters have claws. But I'm sure you've heard we have a lot of bugs in Florida.
