Lobster light

I'm looking for ideas here. I use a main light to hunt lobster, however, it gets in the way alot. So, I'm looking into other ways to wear a smaller light-like UK Q40. I really don't like the idea of attaching it to my mask, so I was thinking of straping it to my forearm(?). Has anyone tried a setup like this? or has anyone tried the headlamps? How you like it? problems?

Dry cavers use helmet mounted lights all the time, in places much darker than the ocean. Somehow they manage to not blind one another.

Your eyes can look somewhere other than directly ahead, ya know.

He's asking about lobster not cave diving. Cave diving and rocky reef are two completely differnt styles of diving.

I will preface this by stating I have not been lobster diving yet, so I'm not sure how well this would work, but I have been tinkering with a wrist mounted light. I took my UK Q 40 and ran the velcro strap of my glove through it. It was a bit flimsy, so I used a separate velcro strap instead and a piece of stainless steel rod and made (kind of) a goodman handle. The front of the light is attached to the steel and the back part is velcroed around the wrist. Its pretty sturdy and you have full use of the hand. My concern is it may get in the way while reaching into a lobster hole, but I suspect I will use my other hand for that.

Here in Jersey we lobster hunt all the time. When your shoving your arm into a little hole trying to pull out a big lobster the last thing you want is something strapped to your wrist. Try the mask or helmet light. If your buddy doesn't like it find a new buddy.
