There are all sorts of liveaboards that pull out of Florida, the full range in price and accomodation.

The one you reference is well known for the Dry Tortugas... is that what you were interested in?

Nekton is out of Ft. Lauderdale. They're a "good one"

If you're a new diver, probably the NW Bahamas trip is one to consider. The Cay Sal trip is a little more advanced, you have to deal with some currents and tidal exchange. And the water is a little cloudier in some locations.

Nekton will also provide a DM for any dive you care to do. They like to do it, it gets them out of work on the boat. And they do classes as well with advance notice.

I'll definitely second the recommendation for Nekton Diving Cruises. Just spent 2 weeks with them and had a super time with GREAT diving. NW Bahamas was definitely easier diving than Cay Sal, and with Nekton the great thing is that they moor on the dive site so if you're uncomfortable with navigating, you can basically stay within sight of the boat and still see fabulous stuff. :D

I'd second (well, actually third) the Nekton recommendation. Especially for a newer diver. Me and my wife dove with them in Belize a few months ago (neither of us had more than 10 dives) and they did everything they could to help us out until we got more comfortable. As sjspeck noted, you can request a Dive Master to dive with you anytime you want. Great operation

I dove with the Ultimate Getaway on a Dry Tortugas trip about 5 years ago. The boat is comfy but not fancy. You can get to know your cabin mates quite well. When I was on it, there were two bunk areas/cabins with multiple bunks, one in the bow and one in the stern. One head for each bunk area plus another head on the main deck for day use. Food was served both inside and outside on the main deck (we had a full charter so there wasn't room for us all to sit together). The food was simple but tasty and there was lots of it. The crew was able to accomodate our one vegetarian diver. Alcohol was not included but we were allowed to bring our own (the rule of "when the bar opened the pool closed" was strictly enforced). Nitrox was available for no extra charge (don't know if this is still part of the charter price).
When I went on this trip I had less than 50 dives under my belt and this was my first live-aboard. For the price, it seemed like a good bargain. Plus the dives were really pretty cool. Lots of pinacle diving around the Dry Tortugas. Plus a fun deeper dive on the wreck of the California (really big goliath groupers that hung around the wreck...big enough to have swallowed one of us without really stretching their jaws too much) and a cool last day dive on a radio tower.
