can't agree that RA diving in currents always works like that. It's more like there is some current you will deal with on most if not all dives and it can increase/decrease/change direction during the dive. Until the moment you are in there, it can change. Since the current areas are where you find the action, that's where we tend to dive. Good guides will be able to adjust for that during the dive. The point is you should be reasonably comfortable in the water and dealing with your gear and making your safety stops. Beyond that, you should be reasonably fit to be able to handle kicking into it for some time so you can handle those usually short periods that you need to without over exertion.

It’s easy to make a wrong choice of Liveaboard anywhere in the world - and that goes double for Raja Ampat. Its remoteness makes it a true ecological jewel, but it also means that you will be sailing far from any modern facilities or professional scrutiny. No place to discover you’ve made an expensive mistake.

i did Raja Ampat on the Paradise Dancer and was very pleased.
i know you have rec'd advice from dive instructors on this forum, and that their advice is more professional than mine. however, if you are in good physical condition (good enough to dive anywhere), you should go. diving in current is about staying calm and using a simple set of skills.ask the divemasters to instruct prior to your dives and dive your plan. do not try and out muscle the current.enjoy the diving and make great memories.
