Since humans eat McDonalds burgers and consume copious amounts of soft drink, it must be OK.

Bread feeding was shown to decrease taxonomical diversity in areas where controlled bread feeding occurred, Attracting more of the limited number of species that ate it. Those species then stayed more local to the area to continue natural feeding, driving away other species.

Add that to the fact that fish are not naturally exposed to gluten, they can't actually digest and process it.

Leave nothing but bubbles, take nothing but pictures. Especially in a marine sanctuary and/or national park.
Control things that are in your control, do your bit when you can.
OK, you convinced me. Next time I'll take some glutten-free bread with me.

Can I ask, why you want to dive Australia? Are you going to be there and want to dive it while you're there or are you going there specifically to dive it?

Australia has "different" rules. The Spirit of Freedom has been reported to have a lot of issues (the same as I experienced and wrote about 10 years ago are still reported to exist). There are national laws in Australia that control diving, that you may not like.

I strongly recommend subscribing to Undercurrent.

Thank you very much. I want to dive the barrier reef To see it. It was a bucket list thing. It sounds like I need to research it more. I don’t know anybody in Australia. And, I’ll be traveling alone.

Yes, go see it while it is still there. SoF isn't perfect but this may be the best option.

I used to have the GBR on my bucket list. I never made it and now it's too late. It's mostly dead or dying. If you're going that far around the globe and spending loads of money to get there, I think you'll be disappointed. There's literature and documentaries on the subject.

Have you considered Fiji or Southeast Asia?

@Tina L it would serve you well to listen to locals in Australia, or better still Australian locals in Queensland. Yes, there is coral bleaching in the Great Barrier Reef. And there is coral bleaching almost everywhere in the world. The GBR is 1500 miles long. There are some places that are badly bleached, and there are some places that are absolutely thriving.

If it's on your bucket list, don't listen to the naysayers on here. The sky is not falling down (well OK, maybe it is, but it's falling very slowly). There is still excellent diving there, and you will have a great time!

We were not able to find info on Spoilsport back then. As for the "7-8 days trips", our trip was just 4 days of diving (11.21-24.2019). We started at the island and ended in Cairns. So you are essentially repeating what I've said.
I did Spoilsport in September 2016 (3 years before you did and had no problem booking directly with Mike Ball). Flew to Lizard Island & cruised back to Cairns. I could do a longer trip, Cairns-Cairns or Lizard Island - Lizard Island, but Lizard Island - Cairns was good enough to experience the diving in outer Barrier Reef / Coral Sea. I rather dive in Indonesia (more value to the money you spend).

Mike Ball just let you dive by yourself without guidance. If you need a guide (DM), that would be an extra cost. I went there alone and had to find a dive buddy. I was paired with an air hog diver who sucked air twice as fast as I did & ended up spending 30 minute dive / tank. In Indonesia we would always have a guide (DM) with diver / DM ratio of 4 and we would be paired with diver that had the same air consumption & experience like me. I haven’t gone back to dive in Australia since then.

There are no national laws that control diving in Australia. There are state laws in Queensland, that is it.
