Hi Everyone,

I'm a pretty experienced diver and looking for suggestions on good diving in the Bahamas. Never been there and have researched this forum extensively but still looking for anyone who has been there to chip in with comments.

I want to to lots of deep diving, wall diving, maybe some wrecks. I am not impressed with shallow dives on beat up reefs that have nothing to offer but little fish.

I've been looking at some of the live-aboard options and they look good but have a feeling they have lots of shallow dives that would not do much for me.

The Cat is available the week I am looking for (end of Jan this year) but wondering if I should just go to Long Island or Andros or San Salvador so I can do more deep wall diving that I enjoy on daily excursions.

Thanks in advance for anyone who has recommendations.

I've dived extensively in the Similans (Thailand) recently and the Oriskany if anyone is seeking info on those places. Perhaps we can trade info.

Thanks!!

Dave,

Checkout sailjuliet.com. They are a liveaboard that docks in Miami and dives the Bahamas around and South of Bimini until December, and does Turks and Caicos in the winter through April. I have been to both places with them. The diving was great. The food was great. It is maximum 12 passengers and 5 crew, and they take you to great dive sites. Cost is reasonable.

Regards,

San Salvador sounds like what you are looking for. Check our Riding Rock Inn. Forget Andros, it has an unbelievable wall but little life except for algae. Long Island is pretty ordinary too. If you want a liveaboard, consider Caribbean Explorer I, which is based on Great Exuma and visits Conception and San Sal.
