I have that book. Please look up General Santos. There should be Lem Lunay or Partridge point. I escorted Jack Jackson when he was here. I think he took us out in the later editions though.

I couldn't find anything about what you mentioned. What section/island?

David,

so how's the Bay area now. foggy huh?

Paolo,
Not foggy today, it has been windy, sunny & cold.
I have not done any California diving yet, want to get more experience diving in warm water first, but I would like to dive Monterey soon.
I use a 3 mill shorty or 3 mil full when diving just for protection. Still got a rash once anyway.
Hope to hear about all the great diving in the PI's.

David

Island of Mindanao. It should be right beside the section on Davao. But like I said, I think he took it out in the last editions.

Paul,

I dived Sarangani Bay a couple of years ago with Chris from Tuna City Scuba and enjoyed it. Chris and I drove down the west side of Sarangani a couple of hours from GenSan as I recall and did several shore divies. Also went to the tuna market, that was pretty cool.

Where is Tampuan Point? How far from GenSan? I'd be interested in more info on South Point Divers, do you have a website?

Thanks,
Drew

I dive with Chris all the time. He was my Dm instructor. We are actually the 2 regular divers in the area.

Please see the attached map. Our point is right at the mouth of the bay. It is the corner right above the words SARANGANI BAY.

I am still working on the website. I will let you know.

hi everyone! just posting to say hi. glad to see people already being active in this. i've heard good things about sarangani bay in general, but have only now heard about the great diving there! wow. will have to visit sometime. :)

when i get across the word SARANNGANI, what comes to mind is prepared fish food, specifically Bangus (Milkfish) !!! and sights of pictures where tuna are carried on the shoulders of them fishermen.

when i do see those pix of tuna on the shoulders of some guy i imagine plopping them down on a big table, brandishing a knife and slicing out some REAL fresh sashimi on the spot -- wasabi and kikoman already on the ready hehehehehe

mmmmmm sushi.... must get sushi.... mmmmmmmm

Yeah. I love sashimi. I can still buy a 27 kilo fish for 2 thousand. That looks great at parties. The guy cuts up the sashimi and keeps the rest of the fish intact. You still have the head and tail and serve yourself from the middle.

Belly, jaw and tail were actually throw aways before because the Japanese didn't want to ship it. No value. Now we are sending it all over the Philippines and prices are up. Still cheaper here though and fresh.

The number one processor here set up a shop in Cebu so you can buy blast frozen sashimi there. Really cool. Open the package, slice it up and 5 minutes later eat it.

And yes, Alsons is also here. They make the Sarangani Bay bangus. Should be available in stores in Manila. I saw them in LA of all places. Here you can get all the variants not available in Manila like baby split marinated. Great for breakfast.

Another two reasons I love this place.
