So... after contemplating your post, I'm thinking I'm doing it exactly right... LOL... Get on the surface, then inflate it. Thanks for the info.

I would suggest practicing this from depth so you're letting other boats and your captain know where you are *before* you're on the surface. I consider this a pretty important skill for anyone diving from a boat.
 
Yep what they said. I find finger spools great. EVEN I have never jammed a finger spool yet. I took a idea from Mania and wrote my name on my SMB with a Sharpie now they know who is under it. ON some boats that is good on others I might not want to do that with my own name. :)
 
Ok, so maybe I'll have to get a finger spool, and try it out supervised with somebody that knows what they are doing. I'm planning to dive in Jupiter once the lemons come in. I'm sure there will be full boats, and plenty of people around to work with me on that particular skill. Thanks for the tips.
