Hey Everyone,
Hoping the community can help me with their opinions on what they thought of the diving on Little Cayman. It is billed as one of the most untouched places to dive, with prestine reefs and I high diversity of Fish and Marine mammals. This is what they say , Well what you all of my Buddy's at SB say.
Where should we stay?
What reefs should We Dive.
What special Equipment should we bring, if any?

I am eager to here all of your thoughts. Please Help:popcorn:
Thanks to everyone
Drew

Hi Drew,
Maybe I can help you out a little bit. Little Cayman has a small section of reef that is probably one of the better overall reefs in the Caribbean. You are likely to see reef sharks, a lemon shark, nurse sharks, turtles, sting rays, an occasional eagle ray and schools of snapper and grunts. The rest of the creatures are typical Caribbean reef life like lobster and lots of smaller stuff. The reef itself is as nice as you will find anywhere in this part of the world for sure, but it is a small section on the north side of the island, so you have to make sure the weather is right for diving there. I am not sure what marine mammals you are likely to come across if any.
It is very easy diving, so no special equipment is needed. Warm water and very little current. I think it is well worth the effort to see eventually and any of the operations on the island are good.

Thanks for the info Jon
St which resort did you stay when you were visiting? Did you come across the Southern Cross Club on Your stay. It is a small resort with cottages and I believe it sits further east than any of the other resorts in the strip. Did you kayak out to Owen Island at all or take in any fishing while you were on the island? Any recommendations on top side activities, sight seeing or hiking, Etc.
Thanks again for the info.
Drew

SCC is a fantastic place. My wife and I were there in May and had a wonderful time. Their website states things pretty clearly. It is a small resort. The dive operation is great. Selection of the dive sites depended on what the group wanted. Last dive of your stay you pick the dive.

thanks for the info Hawkwood
Did the customs entry take a long time, I am wondering if I would be able to make the camyan air
flight to LC if I only had an hour or so to enter through customs and make it to the CA flight before it left. Otherwise we will have to sit in the airport for 3-4 hours waiting for the connection to LC. And also Although I am not a big drinker, From what I read the bar drinks are not part of the package at the Southern Cross Club #1 are they very expensive #2 can you take a duty free bottle with you. #3 and I read somewhere that their is a self service bar where you can make your own drinks, is this true.
Sorry for all the questions but how was the food? Service etc.
Thanks for all the help and if anyone else has any imput please let me know.
Thanks Drew

I was down in Little Cayman for 10 days last month. I loved it. We satyed at Little Cayman Beach Resort, and dove with Reef Divers.

When are you planning on going back to LC? Can I tag along:D

We were at Pirates Point last December. Very laid back (11 rooms/bungalows) Absolutely the best food on the island and the staff is incredible. We dove twice a day (perfect for us "seniors")
They don't advertise since their business is all repeat and referral.

We will be back soon.

From strictly a value perspective I would say the cost difference is not worth it. We have visited Jamaica ; Provo; several islands in the Bahamas; and Cayman Brac and Little Cayman. The Caymans cost us substantially more $ and did not give us more "bang for the buck." Just our two cents. We were not impressed.
