We were thinking of a trip to Little Cayman or Cayman Brac for Feb 2004, but were just reading that the weather and water conditions can be iffy at this time of year...any thoughts?

Any recommendations for other Caribbean islands at this time of year?

expect occasional nor'westers which can wipe out diving on the north shore for a day or two. On the Brac, that could mean no M.V. Keith Tibbets if the wind doesn't cooperate.

But regardless, there is excellent diving available, just don't have your heart set on diving a certain set of sites.

Welcome to Scubaboard! We were in both places in January and the weather was not a problem either time. If you are going to the Brac the weather can be more prohibitive as to diving. We never missed a dive on Little Cayman when we stayed there. On the Brac it was always. . what's the forecast. . where can we go with the weather like this, etc.

Have been going to the Caymans since 1980. In both in Mar., April, and Oct., and have had days where it gets windy, but always have had a chance to dive one side of the island. There's also been times where we've seen mirror flat, so it is a gamble if you're looking for that kind of water. Almost always the water is calm enough to dive, if you don't mind some chop. :)

Dive Safe,
Caymaniac

hi

i have been to cayman twice already and going again saturday - the weather is really not a factor there - the low vis comes when the storms come by, any time of year - prices are just higher during the winter - go you will love it
