Hey all, we are going to be on island May 1st and was wondering if there are any restaurants that have lionfish on the menu. Also, is there a "fish market" that you can buy them at? We are staying at a place with a grill and didn't know what our options were.

The one month countdown has begun, I am so ready to go!

As far as I know they are not on any menu yet on Bonaire. Also no fish markets that sell them. Your best bet would be to find someone that hunts lionfish and make some sort of arrangement. The numbers and especially the sizes on Bonaire are still moderate so don't expect to yield a full meal for 4 adults from a single hunting dive. It will normally be more likely somewhere between a little nibble and an appetizer.

just got back from Curacao, could have made a decent meal off most dives no problem. Some pretty good size ones too. Fortunately still tons of fish on the reefs though.

Also saw a big lionfish that looked like all it's fins were bitten off on one side, hopefully a sign something is interested in them as a meal even if it missed that time.

There's a reasonable chance that another lionfish did that. They are cannibalistic. Here on Bonaire we have witnessed a lot of interest from other fish in the lionfish after we kill them, but I personally have not seen any other species actually attack them (other than us humans of course)

yeah, my bad. We'll be on Bonaire. Really just curious about the taste for my own information not necessarily for a full meal.
