Hi all. I am a relatively new diver (29 dives) with advanced certification. I recently returned from a dive trip where I did 7 dives over 3 1/2 days. I didn't have a dive computer so I had to rely on my buddy or instructor for my dives. I did do some deeper dives (max of 35 meters). I flew 20 hours after my last dive. About 40 hours after my last dive (Tuesday morning) I started experiencing a lingering dizziness, which intensifies when I look at a computer screen or read something. Since then it hasn't gone away, although it does lessen. I do not have any other symptoms (no ear pain, etc.) I have never experienced this before. The dizziness is not so severe that I feel like I'm going to pass out, but it does cause a mild nausea, again, not enough to make me want to throw up. Mostly it just makes me feel a little off-kilter all the time. I went to see my company doctor, and he told me that he doesn't think that it's diving related, but he didn't know what was wrong. I plan on going to a doctor, but as I just started a new job I have yet to get my health insurance in order. Can any of you help me with this? Thanks!

I searched and found that post, it was posted back on 7-31-03. Just tryin to maybe talk to that guy and get some info on what he experienced, thought that was what these furoms where for?

Hi Ken,

Yes, you can find more info by posting on the thread. You might also PM him or her and see if they respond.

If you had these same symptoms after your open water dives, you should seek medical attention as dizzyness is a symptom of decompression illness.

However, the original poster made several errors - using a buddy's computer, and not waiting for 24 hours after multi-day diving, which increase the likelihood of DCS.

Too many possibilities. I get those when my blood sugar is low.

Good things we have physicians, so we can get help when we give up on bluffing. :D

Jayjaybee you are suffering from an ear infection. Normally the dormant bacteria in our ear cannel comes active when water is present in our ear cannel. Also you might have gotten infected from the water you dove in (typical for warm tropical waters). Get some anti-biotic ear drops or go see an ENT for the ear drops. Very similar to swimmers ear.

Hey guys, DandyDon politely noted that only a few of those on the Board are 'officially' qualified and certified to respond to medical inquiries. Rather than responding to inquiries in a 'matter of fact' way, maybe we might share experiences and leave the diagnostic work to the office visits with 'real' docs. . . Just a thought!

Excuse us for being helpful and to share our personal experiences!.

I wasn't clear on my suggestion, but I think he needs to see a physcian, ASAP. :D
