Hi again Terry. I'm sure we're talking about different items here. I'm familiar with the one's you're discussing. When I mentioned this was a j-hook knife, that is what it looks like...a dull metal J (that curves up on the bottom more than that this J) that is sharpened at the curve. There is nothing to remove and you couldn't even cut your finger with it, unless your finger is as thick as a pencil. It doesn't look menacing and there is absolutly no was to use it as a weapon. As some mentioned, that might not matter though.
Screwdrivers routinely get through security, knitting needles, forks...I'm not sure sharp handled items are all summarily catagorized as knives. Thats kinda why I asked the question. If ten people on the board tell me they routinely get thier shroud cutters through TSA, I'd feel pretty good about taking mine through. If everyone tells me me they get confiscated, then I'd make other arrangements.
