Ditto the recommendation about going for as much power as you can afford the first time. It's much more expensive to buy two lights, when you can't stand the annoyance of your light not being visible in the glare of your buddy's.

i have heard that they can be problematic in very cold environments. i've
never had any trouble with mine down here.
I have DiveRite 21w HID and it's Ok light except very poor goodman handle connection. After few dives handle detached from reflector and I had pretty much work to fix it.
