Ditto the recommendation about going for as much power as you can afford the first time. It's much more expensive to buy two lights, when you can't stand the annoyance of your light not being visible in the glare of your buddy's.

i have heard that they can be problematic in very cold environments. i've
never had any trouble with mine down here.
