light color

The picture below is of 2 Archon flashlights. The one on the left is meant for video (very wide beam), the one on the right has a spot beam. They both are suppose to be 6500k-7000k. I feel the flashlight on the right is much brighter due to its cooler, whiter color. The difference seems so pronounced, I think the flashlight on the left is defective. Thoughts?

The color temperature on LED depends on the bin and can vary greatly. Note perceived brightness and actual light output on different. A wide bean will also look less bright.

From where I'm sitting that seems 100% normal.

Also those are not the "same" flashlights even though they are the same brand.

Thanks for the responses. I have owned many underwater flashlights. Some were focus lights, some with spot beams, many different brands. I just don't recall ever having one with such a yellow tint.

Without calibrating your camera I'd suggest they may be one 7000k -+ 10% and the other 6500k -+ 10%.

Higher color temperatures can look blue, harsh and scientific vs. a warmer color which can make subjects and scenery look better.
