Lets talk frog kick, Reason why im making this thread is I have been reading and studying the frog kick for the last couple days. Big thing is trim add little weight up north if your chest is floating up but one thing i dont get is do you have to push and hold with your muscle your legs at 70-90 degrees or do the legs just float if your trim is good? Im confused so I asked the question.

I'm confused by your question. I just relax and kick (frog kick). Not holding anything with my leg muscles. Bend at the knees 90* crank the ankles over so the fins bottoms are inboard and go. More of a modified frog kick. The legs should bend and hold naturally if your trim is spot on. Good for avoiding silt.
 
My question is, Do you have to force lets say your legs up or do they float up on there own? My problem is my trim is good I can look totaly under my but at the same time my feet still sink. But im not pushing my legs up and holding, im just super relaxed and they just sink.

Ok, I understand now. What kind of BCD are you using? Move some weight up top if you can. Arch you back a bit too. Should help force those legs up.
 
Im using a backplate wing style, So do I force the legs up or does it just flow up them selfs?

As we've discussed, Chris, you may need to move some weight up onto your cambands.

The bend in the knees IS done with muscles, but it takes very little effort, and you're pretty much unaware of it.

The Essentials DVD I recommended to you will answer some of these questions.
 
Awesome, This is the problem I think. Im not even bending my knees, I keep thinking they are susposed to float up automatic. I tryed the cam bands but i was way to much weight, I have no money at the moment so I cant pick up any DVDS yet and other stuff. I just have enough cash for Air Fills :)

Get your trim nailed first. I have been trying to learn the frog kick, but I am still a little feet-heavy and that makes it impossible to do properly.

If only that were always true.

I used to notice that when I'd dive doubles, my legs would be quite tired during the second dive of the day. I really didn't get it until I took cave class. For that class I rented a full wetsuit. Magically, my legs were no longer fatigued after swimming for nearly 2 hours.

The difference was that in my normal exposure suit, which is a 5mm farmer top, there was no neoprene on my legs. Thus no lift on them. I was holding my legs up all that time with heavy jetfins, by muscle power alone. In class, the neoprene was positive enough to make my legs neutral and I got far less fatigued.

When I did my first dives in my drysuit, that wonderful floaty feeling came back. I didn't have to hold my legs up to swim. And my hovering got better in a hurry. It's hard to keep your fins from shaking when your leg muscles are tired.
