Well it helps to have warm water too. There is plenty to see here in the PNW shallow... but even with a drysuit and a p-valve I'm starting to get ready for hot cocoa and chowder after an hour.

Yeah, I don't think I'd be staying in the water for 3 hours in the PNW. But with that temp, you could probably go longer. The colder your body, the less you'll need to breathe.

I just have to find somewhere that has something to see at 11'. Guess we'll be going to Hawaii soon.

Here in So. Calif., LA county. We have "Malaga Cove". ON my last dive there we dropped down into 11 feet, swam to 15 then did a U turn and swam into the beach, stood up and walked out. At that depth and location yu see mainly fish, some eel grass, rock and a little kelp. And a harbor seal. I used a steel LP 72 and have like 1000 pounds when I got out.
There are some other shalow reefes around too. Many areas aroundf that are shallow enough to snorkle. I've done three hour snorkle swimms in the summer. To cold now.

Ooh, sounds like a good idea for a computer dive log program?

Probably already in here somewhere, but are there any good PC dive log programs out there already?

I'll post my first log once I have my OW dive next weekend. ;)
I use Divemaster by Reefnet Software. Stores everything I need, calculates SAC and lets me print out my log or just a summary page to show to DM's when asked.

dive # 3 (OW check out) 05-16-03 Went to Bath and Tennis in West Palm Beach with Diving Solutions. Max depth 60 feet for 40 mintues, viz 30feet bottom temp of 79 started with 3200psi ended with 500... 20 lbs of lead. Comments; this was AMAZING, the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. So many fishes I never even knew exsisted WoooHooo, can't wait to dive again.
*I ended up COVERED in Sealice from this dive, all over my face, in my mouth, on my feet.... it was really bad, and to top it off, I got married the very next day.....lol, those pictures are certainly a conversation piece. My Instructor actually thought that little "mishap" would discourage me from ever diving again.....NOT!*

Last dive 12-11-04

dive # 108 Went to The Trench out of West Palm Beach on Don Claypool's boat.
Max depth 57 feet for 42 mintues had to call the dive sooner with the temps at 75f. Viz about 35 feet, seas were calm with a bit of a current down under. starting PSI 3100 ended with 1500. 14 lbs of lead used.
Comments; what a great day to be me. The Seas were awesome and almost a great as the company. First time diving off a private boat, love it! Don taught me how to roll/flip off the side of a boat, very cool. The air temp was about 68f and we all froze, but well worth the trip. We did see a very large Southern Sting Ray, Lots of Damsel fish guarding their purple eggs. A few large bugs hiding out (laughing at us) and all the normal residents. Must dive here again
