Humuhumunukunukuapua'a:
It seems you're misinformed about LP. From Atomic's site:

"In the USA, Atomic Aquatics products are sold only by professional Dive Retailers at their retail store locations. Atomic Aquatics does not allow the sale of, nor does it warrant any products purchased via mail order or internet. Atomic Aquatics authorized dealers may advertise or promote Atomic Aquatics through mail or internet, but only with regards to in-store purchases at their retail locations. Be advised that anyone offering Atomic Aquatics products for sale via mail order or internet is not an authorized dealer and is not authorized to sell, repair or adjust Atomic Aquatics products."

As I said, I don't know whether or not they are violating the law. But they are not getting their goods from the manufacturers in the first place, and they are working on gear they are not authorized or qualified to work on. It's called grey market.

Yes, the same is true for many, if not all, of the regs they sell. They are grey market. But it is not illegal.

I have contacted LP on many items i wanted the warranty with. Regs Computers(oceanic, grey market, not authorized to sell) and they say that you dont get a U.S. warranty you get a LP warranty to match the manufactures warranty. I would rather have my warranty through the company to get it fixed properly.

As for grey market most of their goods are grey market. Some things i dont mind being grey market (wetsuits, no fog) but other items i want the real deal with the warranties. .

I have also heard a lot of people in the groups i dive with that have had problems with shipping to LP and getting their product repaird and sent back. So when i do make the occasional order to them i make sure it is what i want. But there are other places online that will match their prices and have great service like divers direct scuba toys and dive U.S., and you dont have the hassle.

Blah blah blah grey market, blah blah, warranty, etc. All of this has been gone over before ad nauseum.

LP is apparently owned and run by Jews. They have alot of holidays this time of year. They are posted on their home page. Deal with it or don't buy from them.

I have purchased from them before and will do so again. I have had to return a couple of items too. Use UPS. And if the schedule says that they are out of the office for the next 2 weeks on some sort of religous holiday....Well then maybe you should hold onto your package for another week before you send it back via UPS

I returned a couple things one was from Zeagle and when they could not get it repaired they simply replaced. Which they did not have to do. Also used UPS though.

In real world terms, the differences in the warranty:

LP: LP provides it. So they will or will not take care of problems, as they see fit, and they are the only place you can go for warranty service on items bought from them. If they decide to not take care of it, you're SOL (and I have heard from people who are SOL with LP). If they ever decide they've had enough fun & profit & close up shop, you're SOL.

Authorized dealer: You can take the gear back to that dealer, or any other authorized dealer for that brand whether the original dealer is still in business or not, or even get support directly from the manufacturer if a local authorized dealer isn't available or is but for some reason unable to resolve the problem.

Some don't care, don't mind the risk. Others do. You decide which one suits you best.

Some people look at price without ever considering the real bottom line.

This is why places like Leisurepro exist.

Before returning, you need to get an auhorization # from LP you need to call them first. If you just send the item back it will take a LONG time. They adhere to the Sabbath so therefore, they are closed on the weekend.

I have returned things (nothing major) fins etc. and have not had any problems.

Hope this helps

Thanks everyone for hijacking my thread, and especially those who think I have some blame in this .

Let's try to stay focused and deal with reality.

#1 Who cares if they are Jews? That fact has nothing to do with any of this.

#2 I accused no one of anything illegal.

#3 The level of customer service has not been acceptable in this case - if you have had a great time sending stuff back -FANTASTIC! And yes they should pick up their mail or pick up the phone to have it delivered. What this tells me according to their own words and some of yours is that if I buy from LP I better get the right product the first time around. They are too busy and have too demanding of a schedule to offer good customer service at times. This is good for the consumer to know, don't you think?

#4 If you want to buy at LP, who is stopping you? I stated before that I am not boycotting LP and that, if I choose to, I will buy from them again.

#5 I have stated and do so again - I have had no problems in the past and I'm glad to know that LP deals with UPS better than the post office for returns. That is very helpful to those who deal with them.

#6 I tried working directly with LP and the post office before posting anything here. This thread is for advise on LP returns, just like the title says. This is supposed to be constructive not as has been alleged:
"There probably are quite a few customers wondering where they're packages are but are giving it a few more days instead of posting a complaint publicly like this."
If this were just a complaint, I would have posted it in the whine and cheese forum not here.

#7 Those who have had no problems with returns should follow the sage advice given above "You (and everyone else) is looking at it from their point but if you try to put yourself in their shoes for a minute it might look a little different." I hope you never have to deal with this side of LP, may all your purchases be happy ones.

Now can we get back on topic before I ask a moderator to pull the thread?

Gee I thought all of this was on topic. i am not trying to be sarcastic here. What are you referring to that is off topic. What exactly was the topic if not this?

SeaYoda - thread hijacking, when done artfully is interesting to see, this one lacked a bit of skill.

Your experience and insight is appreciated (along with several others, who were on topic).

I've always suspected that there is a LP fan club that meets every 3rd Thursday of the month to protect, at all costs, the image of LP.

What is sad is that you don't have a path of last resort to call or have your issues addressed. Those that like LP, should at least understand why that is a concern.

As a note, those that like LP, might consider giving you a hand and make a call or email LP regarding this issue. The "too bad, it did not happen to me" attitude does not seem very professional
