thanks for all the info. as far as my budget goes im open i dont want to have problems or have to replace a light in a year or 2. As for Bonaire i dont want to scar the fish, but i do want to get into some more tech diving prob next year. So if i have to buy multi lights thats ok to.

I do have a question though do they make a can or a hand strap style light for reef typ diving?

So here is the solution, led canister light that I've proposed to Marcus will be used from dive # 1 to dive # 1000000000 regardless type of dive.

Just my friendly intended advise... No offence intended TecDiveGear:

Suggesting a $700 lamp for a new diver is quite steep and I doubt a NEW diver that buys a light now will still have the same light after 1000000000 dives. After dive 10 or so, he'll probably either:
  • understand that diving was not meant for him ... stops diving and has to sell an expensive lamp at an expensive loss
  • understand that having the best and most expensive equipment won't make him an experienced diver.

Besides; the current market is quite fluid with new solutions and new lamps coming out all the time. If you buy for life now, you'll be sorry after 2 days.

After 250+ dive I finally bought a lamp, I have been lucky to always be able to hire and borrow lamps...
I now started with a very CHEAP 1200lumen Ugly Light (E125, but $75 when you order directly in china:wink:) . Hoping it will not flood on my first dive.
