I have a leak at the outer edge of my shoulder dump valve - not the valve itself but where material meets the valve. It is Sherwood AVID BC. Can this be repaired? The shop says no. I have attached a photo.

if the flange is welded to the bladder, you aquaseal it for the short term and start looking for a new bcd

otherwise, you will need to cut off the old flange then install a new two piece flange which is an aftermarket DIY repair, you won't find a shop that will do it since it is not a manufacturer supported procedure

unscrew the cap on the valve and gently try to crack or break the fitting that is bonded to the BC. there is a good chance it will shatter and/or shows stress cracks already. Do not play around with aquaseal on that, your leak may be a precursor to a catastrophic failure.

As per the attached photo, that flange is already changed.
Have you bought that BCD second hand ?
Did you make the flange repair ?
The new flange has unglued to the cordura. This usually happens after a flange change where the original wing of the flange remained welded to the cordura, but with time, that part of the original flange goes on deteriorating and breaks and the new flange starts to leak.
You could unscrew the new flange, remove the plastic debris and reglue the flange.
For this, you will need tools and skillful hands.

Thank you for the feedback, it is much appreciated. The BC was new when I bought it about 10-12 years ago and I did not make any repairs myself. It has about 1400 dives in salt water.
