Basso's the real competition now. I'm surprised Lance allowed him to get the 20 second bonus on Friday. He's looking really strong, it's rare to hear "I couldn't shake him" come out of Lance's mouth...
 
Well, Lance won again today and will be wearing the yellow jersey. Basso is still on his heels.

Heck, Basso is the closest to Lance at 3:48. Unless Basso wins big tomorrow I don't thnk Lance is going to be stopped. And good god, taking a little less then 40 mins to ride 9.5 miles uphill.

Was it confirmed that Lance beat Pantini's record on the Alpe d'Huez?

I read Lance wasn't happy with all the fans on the climb. While watching the coverage on TV, I thought I saw a few spectators spit on him.

Armstrong solidified his lead but did not appear to enjoy himself on the day. Afterward, he commented on the attitudes of some of the fans on the roadside.

"I don't think it's a good idea to have a time trial on the Alpe," he said to French television at the finish. "It was scary. There were too many people, a lot of Germans, a lot of Belgians who weren't being too nice." Armstrong's dominance has not sat well with some fans, who also added anti-Lance graffiti to the road.

The German fans were trying to cordone off the route to slow him down. If they were spitting on him, it shows how jealous they are that their german rider has toppled from the top to only follow in the wake of the greatest athelete in the world :)
