You're absolutely right, customer service is a lost art. When I worked in a photo-lab in college, I wasn't treated well by company A, so I switched (and made more money) to company B. My customers asked where I went, and the employees at company A were dumb enough to tell them. About half of their customer base followed me to the new company before they created a store policy to not tell their customers! The difference, I ensured quality work, but I refered to my customers by name, and complimented them on their nice pictures, and struck up some small conversations about them. Good customer service goes a LONG way, no matter what the product. I like that idea to test customer service for various companies; there's probably some good money there.
