Been looking around a bit and was wondering if there ever has been any thread which rates/describes/reviews various LDS's in the NH/ME area.

Seems like a worthwhile topic, providing info such as how the instructors are, whether the LDS provides good gear advice, cost, diving opportunities, etc.

I've always gone to United Divers in Somerville for nitrox/air fills plus drysuit servicing that I couldn't/didn't want to do myself.

PG Dive in Newton is an excellent shop and provides free air fills. Paul frequently posts to ScubaBoard.

For training, you'll have to be more specific. What type of training are you looking for?

hey thats a great idea....
i think it should be for all of new england tho...

Not sure about NH/ME but I think reviewing shops in NE would be an interesting thread... I'll start I guess and the mods can split this off if they deem appropriate:

Ocean State Scuba
Nice guys, great facility, equipment sales, air fills (no nitrox though), etc.
located in Jamestown, RI right near Ft. Wetherill. Chris and I are there
a lot. PADI training is offered and they do scuyak as well.

Newport Diving Center
Never done business with them but they are nice people. http://www.newportdivingcenter.com
Narragansett Pier Dive Shop
Small shop and the owner (Charlie) is a nut but in a funny sort of way. They do all kinds of training, air fills, nitrox fills, some equipment sales and I believe they just became the only Weezle dealer in RI. http://www.pierdive.com
United Divers
on Elmwood ave in Providence, RI. Very small shop but they have a pool for
training and the staff is nice. I purchased my drysuit from them. I believe they do nitrox and trimix fills as well. http://www.uniteddivers.com
B&M Distributing
Interesting shop in East Providence. I met Gary Gentile there. They do air fills and
equipment sales and tend to carry stuff most other shops in RI dont (tech stuff). Bring cash though because the prices go up when you want to use a credit card. I purchased my tanks and my first canister light there. http://www.bmdistributing.net
Kalipso Dive Shop
Smithfield, RI. Nice guys who do this part time and work for Johnston Fire Dept.
I think they offer training but I only get air fills there. Small shop. No website.
Cape Ann Divers
Nice people and pretty much the only operation in the area. Fills are damn expensive ($8 for air) but they have cheap charters. The equipment the offer is pretty standard. http://www.capeanndivers.com
That's all the ones I've been too that I can remember off the top of my head....

Atlantic Aquasports in Rye,NH, in my opinion, is the best shop in the Area. The owner, Don Stevens has been in the business for nearly forty years. Whether you are equipment shopping, taking lessons or just stopping by to chat this shop will not let you down. Capt. Pat.

Aquatic Escapes in Londonderry is a great shop, too. Actually, it was them I was thinking of when I posted about Discover Diving, above.

United Divers is closing their shop in Providence, which is unfortunate, as they had an excellent pool there.

Soggy, any idea when the Providence will be closing. I am curious if they are just going to sell off the inventory or move it to the other store?

Weve had groups from Aquadic escapes onboard a few times.. including the owner...
all seem like good people

A FEW OTHER SHOPS

Divers market Plymouth MA
great guy that works there very down to earth and frieldly...
they have a nice little shop with all the normal stuff a diver needs..
there not into the tech diving, and dont have nitrox or trimix

The scuba center Attleboro Ma
ive only been in there a few times..
the people ive delt with are very quiet, but had a decent little shop
they dont do any nitrox or trimix and dont seem intrested in tech diving....
but i dont have anything bad to say about them.... they seem to have there nitch and do well with it

Odyssey Scuba Rehobith MA
Great shop. excellent people with great attitudes
they do trips, host a local dive club, and have nitrox, trimix and argon fills.
