I would like to support my local dive shop (buy equipment, etc) however they do not have a robust training schedule that suits my needs. I have every confidence in their capabilities and get along very well with the staff. If I go with another dive shop locally, the certification will be by another vendor (PADI) vs my current SSI cert.

Any thoughts or past experience with this type of situation would be extremely helpful.

Patronize the shop that services your needs.. in this case it sounds like you should be heading to another shop.

Is there a reason you can't patronize them both?

ditto with dan....
I dont understand some what seems to me like blind devotion to a particular lds exhibited here by a number of people. Hopefully you have a good enough rapport with your lds and they are professional enough to realize they cant supply what you need therefore you are going elsewhere. It is a simple matter of demand and supply. It they get adolescent on you, then it would be their loss.

There's no reason to give all your business to a single LDS if you have nearby choices - the more shops that know you as a customer, the better chance you have of getting what you want when you need it...
