i read great things about both places ( actually about most places ); my concerns are :1) size of dive groups at lcbr (iarge) vs conch club(small) ; 2) timed dives ( i get 98 minutes from 120cf) 3) boating to dive spot (lcbr) as opposed to driving over, getting on the boat and being in the water 30 minutes before lcbr arrives (conch club); 4) only 2 drinks on the 3 dive all inclusive plan?(lcbr) 5) any info info on dive operation at conch club? i'm bringing friends and trying to make best overall decision for the group; please help a fella out ; i need all the guidance i can get thanks

I assume you mean Reef Divers at LCBR.

I don't think the dive group issue is what you make it out to be. Sometimes LCBR has larger dive groups. You can ask to not be put on a boat with a large dive group if that makes you happy. I think one time out of twenty trips I was on a LCBR boat with a large group.

Both run their boats from the same dock, so both have the same boat ride and neither allows you to drive to a dive site.

Both have time limits on their dives. Both use AL 80cf tanks. They have time schedules to meet and have designed their dive times for maximum safety. They have a structure to what they do and you abide by their structure. I don't have a problem with that and understand why they do what they do. Don't think you can get them to change. They are accomodating, but to a limit, to keep their schedule.

If you want to dive for 90 minutes, go to Pirates Point. More laid back divers.

Conch Club goes out earlier and gets back earlier, so you have a better chance to pick the dive site on the first dive, but you have to choose your second dive based upon the sites not occupied at that time.

Can't comment about the free drinks.

Both run safe, friendly operations.

I have used both and would use either. Based on my limited experience I get the impression that Conch Club has a large number of repeat customers that tend to be more seasoned divers, not that Reef Divers does not have experienced divers, they do. I certainly could be wrong about that impression.

Don't forget the ease of walking a few hundred feet to the boat at LCBR.

Both have pluses and minuses.

You should be happy either way.

I agree with JDCPA. Either way you will not be disappointed. We are going again June 9th.

I just returned from a week at Conch Club. I cannot speak to LCBR but I have dived with Reef Divers on Brac and LC. This past week, I dived with Conch Club divers. Bill, Matt, and Claire are phenomenal. Bill is as good a captain as you'll ever have at the helm. And Matt and Claire are great dive masters. Thoroughly impressed and I cannot recommend them more highly. They do get out "early" but due to the time change and relatively early sunrises, we were up well in advance of departure times. Plenty of time for breakfast and a swim or morning snorkel.

Conch Club itself was a great place to stay. Nice, two-story condos with two pools (one for kids/families and one for adults). Right on the beach. Patty and her staff- especially Eton and Cassandra were top-notch. Eton even shared some of his home-grown produce and some Jamaican recipes which we greatly enjoyed with dinners we made. You can request a grill which they'll place right outside your condo. We had a great time grilling while the kids were in the pool. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation for dinner at Pirate's Point. Ridiculously amazing. Just amazing. The Hungry Iguana is pretty good too.

The things I really liked about CCDivers is that they do leave early and first, have a single-boat operation with full valet service, and are genuinely good people. Bill is also on the environmental board for Cayman so he has a compounded interest in preserving the environment of his home island.
