All in, buddy. You ready to fight the puddle jumper schedule again? I knew you were "A Diver's" diver. :)

We'll make it happen somehow! I have found that adding an extra day to the trip works well. We just go from Friday to Saturday instead of Saturday to Saturday. It adds an extra day to the cost of the trip but it's so much easier to get flights from GC to LC on a Friday.

Best thing we did was spend Sat night on GC....getting on an earlier flight from LC was simply just going standby....and hanging at that marvelous terminal they have on LC :)

I forgot to mention....we had a marvelous dinner at Aqua on GC Sat night! I highly recommend it.

Did you make it over to the Point of Sand beach on LC? I thought that beach was gorgeous.

If you were expecting big fish you picked the wrong location. That is not what the Cayman Islands are known for.

The resort package is not our thing and I can see why some aspects where not to your liking. A lot of people though like the resort package concept.

Thanks for the report and pics @flyboy08 and I'm glad that you had a good trip. I have always been aware that the beaches at LCBR and CBBR are not good swimming beaches, and that's okay with me because I am not much of a beach person - and the pool is fine to cool off and the new pool at CBBR is gorgeous. But I am concerned about the reports of garbage along the shoreline. I don't remember there being garbage and if something washed in, it was cleaned up each morning.

There have been issues with Sargasso weed washing up along the shore in many Caribbean locations, and it can be difficult to clean up. Was this actual trash or was it Sargassum that was washing in, maybe with some trash mixed in?

We are going back in the fall and it would definitely decrease our enjoyment if we are looking at garbage! Did you say anything about it to the hotel management? What was the response? Do you have any pictures of the trash problem?

When they took over Cobalt Coast I was glad that they didn't try and put Beach into the name of the resort because it is on ironshore with a tiny man-made beach - and on Grand Cayman when you advertise that you have a beach - then you'd better have a real beach!

I always felt that the food at the CBBR was much better than at LCBR - but neither resort offers gourmet dining - but it is good and plentiful and much better than some other dive resorts we have visited. And as others have said, it is the overall experience and diving at a good price that we like (and there aren't many restaurants on the sister islands!)

I am surprised that you didn't see many large animals. My experience has been that there were many groupers, eels, turtles, tarpons, barracuda, and rays - not a lot of sharks but occasional nurse sharks and reef sharks. I wonder if it is the time of year? That water temp of 87 is very warm, I think that 85 is the highest I have experienced.

On another topic, what did you think of the Comfort Suites on GC? Not the best hotel or beach on the island, but we have stayed there for one or two nights in the past and thought it was fine for a short stay and quite cheap for the 7MB area.

Quick question, I know that the CS offers food and drinks at their pool bar, but I don't remember if they offer any food or beverage service on the beach? Is it okay to bring your own cooler to the beach? Thanks!

One of our members asked for a garbage bag, she received a large green one, and within 20 minutes, it was full of garbage. And yes, Sargasso was everywhere! No trash shots....my wife went off the dock as she really enjoys floating in the ocean, but she was turned off by the garbage and weeds...

The CS is about as cheap as one will find on GC. We actually stayed there about 7 years ago too. Nice room, good waffle for breakfast and yes, you can order lunch at the pool restaurant and bring it to the beach. I didn't notice coolers on the beach, but there's no one to tell you otherwise....the beach at the CS is ideal:)

The last two times we visited GC, we rented a house up near Rum Point.....that we really enjoy.

Thanks for the report, glad you enjoyed the diving! I just had to postpone my trip there for a week because I was supposed to fly through Fort Lauderdale this Saturday. I am kind of curious about the lack of "big fish". Do you just mean sharks? Or are you lumping in grouper, tarpon, barracuda, etc. LC has always been known for plentiful and large grouper, so I am a bit surprised if they were not around. Sharks have always been pretty rare there. We typically see a nurse shark or two each trip, but reef shark sitings are rare (typically the tagged one that hangs out near the end of the Bight section of the Marine Park and one other smaller reef shark that sometimes hangs around the same area). The turtles are typically everywhere. I am usually surprised if I don't see at least one per dive, so I am shocked if you only saw one all week. Hopefully they just had the week off? I guess I will find out for myself week after next.

As you can see in my picture, Grouper were plentiful...maybe three barracudas, Tarpon only at night by the pier and one or two turtles...one nurse shark. That's all folks.....

Sorry your trip has been postponed.
