Little Cayman Beach Resort Aug 26th-Sept 2nd....then one night on GC at the Comfort Suits on 7 Mile Beach.
OK, I had high expectation for this trip and for the most part, it didnt disappoint. But will I return, nope...and here's why:
I like beaches and the beach at LCBR and around the whole island was bordered with seaweed full of trash that was not raked up once during out visit (was told the trash comes from Cuba). The shore and out to 200 yards or so is full of Turtle Grass! You return from a dive and enter the inlet and the water is a beautiful Aqua blue...makes one want to just jump off the boat and into it! But as you approach the dock, the Grass takes over and the desire to enter the water is no longer. We spent the afternoons hanging at the pool that had to be 90*, but wet nonetheless.
Our Ocean front room was very nice. A large patio with chairs and table...the king bed was comfy and the AC ran 24/7 with comfort.
We spent one full day in GC before our flight home and spent HOURS in the ocean..if the beach at LCBR was clear and clean, I would rate the resort at a 9....initially, we had a 4 oclock flight on Sat to GC, but we went standby for the 8:45 and got on (4 of us) at no cost. This allowed us to spend a full day on 7 mile beach as well as the next morning.
Others have posted the food was "great"! Being from NYC, I guess my palate is a notch higher....the food was good, but not great! We would have liked to see more indigenous foods other than starch rich foods Americans so like....The Jerk Chicken night was by far the highlight of the weekly menu, but this was only served once. The fruit punch is addicting! I'm still have withdrawal shakes!
Drinks at the bar are NYC prices? We ended up buying our own bottles at the local store and just ordered Cay Beer from Theresa.....She was a fun bartender
The resort workers were great! The dive shop even better! We had Sharon and Leah as our Captain and DM for the week and couldnt be more pleased! We had fun!
The diving....Hands down a brilliant reef! Short on large fish...16 dives and we saw one shark, one turtle and various fish. Temperatures at 60 feet was 87*! Warm and comfy for me as I dont don a wet-suit. Awesome swim throughs.
Going through customs was a breeze....when we arrived from LC to GC, we didnt see ONE person sitting at their stations and we just walked on through...grabbed our bags and went for a cab.
If one want to just dive dive dive, 4 dives a day, then LCBR is the place to be....I took over 700 pictures and Ill try to add a few of them here...
Happy to answer any questions...
