I've stayed in both poolside and ocean front recently. The poolside rooms are all renovated, are spacious and only noisy on Friday, Karaoke night till 10.00 PM.
The ocenfront rooms are a bit bigger and have a kitchenette that you don't need at an all inclusive resort. The view and sound of the ocean, plus the semiprivate terrace are all a plus but as I recall, the upgrade cost was about $800 for two people. Nice if you can afford it but not necessary. In future, I plan to stay poolside, use the $800 for something else, and walk the few steps to a hammock on the beach when I feel the need. All the rooms I have stayed in there, and in fact the whole resort, is spotlessly clean, as are the dive boats. They even rake the beach every day.
