Ok, so i was brave (or stupid) and decided i'd continue that burn test and see what happens. Well, it continued for another hours or so and the odd thing was the light faded away like any other halogen light. Kept getting dimmer and dimmer. I thought once the batteries declined through some threshold the light would have just triggered off at some point as it does with the alkalines. I realize the nimh stay pretty flat in their discharge cycle but i just figured at some point it would have reached that.

Unless LC has special circuitry to prevent the battery from discharging below certain voltage, it will shorten battery life.
