We are going to Lembeh in May and have an 8 hour layover in Singapore from 1am to 9am. I wanted to get rooms at the Transit hotel but they are fully booked. I did get Slumberettes at the Rainforest Lounge. Has any one used this facility? Is it worth staying there or should we just find a quiet place in the airport to hang out. I can not find much info about the place but it looks like the Slumberettes are not very private and I was wondering about leaving our carryons in the room while taking a shower etc.

Thanks in advance.

There's quite a lot to do in the Singapore airport. They have tons of shopping (no surprise there), a movie theater, LAN computer gaming area, arcade, and a good bit more. The transit hotel has showers you can rent too, which may be a good thing. May be worth while to check the transit hotel when you are there b/c we were told a lot of bookings get cancelled or the people don't show up etc. They have lockers you can put your bags in at he airport, so no need to take them if you don't want to.

It's unfortunate about the time of day you are laid over there. We had like 1pm-2am so we left the airport to go to little India, the zoo, night safari, and so on and had a blast...we wanted to stay there a few days!

We too had this same layover but were able to get rooms at the transit hotel. It is my understanding that there is more than one transit hotel in different terminals. See if you can get a room in another terminal. Also, you can take mass transit into Singapore and get a room for a few hours there. You can arrange for a shuttle to transfer you as well and then get you back in time for your flight. It is quite doable as the traffic will not be so bad. Just leave early in the morning to avoid traffic jams for the return back to the airport. We have gone into the city both ways. Once on the subway and twice by shuttle. It was super cheap on the subway and quite easy to do! Singapore is an awesome city!Do know that hotel rooms in the city are very expensive! Have a great trip!

"are"? Maybe many hotels "can be" expensive is a better choice of words. There are a wide variety of hotels in Singapore and quite decent normal ones can be found everywhere from about US$60 to several hundred per night. For the backpacker, there are lots of choices too. While cheap by SIngapore standards, those are not be as cheap as in most other Asian cities but Singapore is not quite like those cities either.

If the "slumberettes" are those that you pay for a 3-hour block, they're okay. They aren't very private--just cubicles with a padded bench-like bed and a blanket. The bench pad and the pillow are vinyl covered and rather firm, but if you're exhausted, you can get a few hours' sleep with them. There's also an easy chair in the cubicle, IIRC. When you go to the showers, there is the shower area and the dry area with a locking door, so you can take your carry-on bags in with you.

do you land in singapore in the middle of the night or in the day time?

u can just venture out from the airport using the subway. to town and soak in some humidity. not sure where u can store your luggages...

if its dead in the night... and the train dun run.. then just find a nice spot and sleep at the airport.. its a nice place to sleep :)
