Lavacore vs sharkskin vs what else?

I'm looking to add some warmth under my suit but also as a possible stand alone in tropical waters.

What all is out there? My shop sells sharkskin, another local has lavacore, and I'm sure there are others.

Can someone give me a quick run down on what to look for? How warm they are.. Sizing etc...? I have zero experience with these.
