I originally posted this in the wrong place...

We'll be in Kona in July (24-30) and plan to do some diving -

What's the black water? We've done the manta dive before - definitely awesome, especially with a small group. We'll be doing that one again.

Any recommendations for some good lava formations - tubes, pinnacles, etc. accessible from a shore dive or an outfit that does these dives? We've got some great places we know about to go back to for fishes and stuff but it would be fun to explore some nice lava formations. Any suggestions?

Probably the best all-round site for pinnacles and tubes in one spot, without taking an all day trip, is pyramid pinnacle over inthe Pine Trees area. It's a boat dive and we all do it. There are a bunch of other spots that are pretty neat for one or the other. Most of us will try to give you a couple different types of things to see over the course of the day and pick sites accordingly.

The black water dive is a blue water night dive. You go off shore a few miles, tether yourself to the boat and see what comes by. You'll either love it or hate it.
