Latex Wrist Seal

Does anyone know in the Toronto area where I can get a latex wrist seal fixed on my dry suit. Attico is closed and I am hoping to get it fixed with in the next week. Any help is appreciated.

If it's not rocket science, then why can't I find a shop to do it for me? I would rather take it to a shop and have it in a couple of days then go thru the hassle of buying it off ebay waiting for the shipment then putting it on myself.

Not sure what brand your dry suit is or what end of the city you are in, but you could try DiveSource in Oshawa.

If you do decide to do it yourself (not hard to do, but also not hard to screw up), Mountain Equipment Coop (there is a store in T.O.) also carries latex wrist seals and installation kits. The seals are $13 Cdn ea.

I've done plenty of seals in my time and its not hard work, there are allot of dive shop owners in the Toronto area who just don't have the experience and or just don't want to do the job as its time consuming and what they have to charge for the job the customer usually never wants to pay. Remember this is an expensive hobby with allot of cheap divers out there. Just do it your self and once you do one you'll be on your way to total Independence from any dive shop like so many divers these days.

I must say, CWDG, that I agree with Rollie. If its a huge PITA now for you to find a shop to do the job...just wait til you're out on a liveaboard or at a resort for an expensive trip and your wrist seal lets go. If you know how to do it, you replace the seal, go have lunch, do some shopping, and you're ready for an afternoon dive. If you don't know how to do it, the trip is ruined.

Go buy two seal kits. Learn to do it...it takes time but isn't hard. Put the second seal kit in your save-a-dive kit, for when the other wrist seal lets go!

Note, that when he trims the tape, he rounds the end that will overlap. This ensures that there are not two little edges that can pull up. I saw a DIY job once where that wasn't done and the tape started to lift.

The roller is available at home depot (flooring roller), and filling the pop bottle (full) with water makes it more rigid.

Thanks guys, some good points that you have there. I agree with it being an expensive sport and if I could find someone to do it, I would pay!

But then there is the point if I do go away and a seal breaks.....so I'm going to attempt to do it myself! Thanks for the link Darkstar. So now I am off to Mountain Equipment Co-op to get that wrist seal.

I realize you've decided to handle this as a DIY, but FYI Aquasub in Richmond Hill (west side of Bayview, 2 lights north of Major MacKenzie) can certainly take care of you...seals, fills (air, EANX, Trimix), etc. Aquasub

Actually, I called AquaSub the other day and they can not help me! They like a bunch of the other shops send it to Attico and since he is on holidays until the 31st no dive shop can help!

So as Rollie and the others said, I'm going to do it myself so that it gets done. I'm just surprised that people actually take it to a dive shop and then the dive shop sends it to someone else that you can go to directly.
