i've been here since the third. we saw some at our hotel the first day, but haven't seen one since. not one on any of our 10 dives.

Thanks for setting everyone straight on what the situation really is. Hopefully now, there won't be a run on hoods and skins. :11:

My crew and divers reported to me last night that they haven't seen the blooms of them like we saw early last week and the week before. My "temporary" prediction may prove correct :) and even more temporary than I thought :)

Just got back last night. In 9 dives, I saw only two jellyfish, both during safety stops. I did, however, get my usual share of thimble larva stings on my neck, in my ear, on my hands, arms, and inside my booties that are too short to stay tucked under my wetsuit legs.

And I used Sea Safe - it has never worked for me in 4 trips to Mexico - I always come away with stings. So save your money.

I really believe that some people are more prone to stings than other, as I'm always the only one in my group to ever get stung. YMMV

They're open water jellies that drifted into the channel as an exception to the rule. With the Coz channel current, they shouldn't have lasted long - sounds like they're history.

I wear cheap nylon black socks. I'm more worried about scraping my ankle on a ladder or something.

Could have been worse without the SS. Some people do react to various toxins more than others. :medal:

For sale - custom made suit of armor.

Size: Large
Material: salt water corrosion resistant titanium
Accessories: clips for safety sausage

Never used - originally purchased to ward off a massive invasion of jellyfish that surfaced a week before our dive trip. Thankfully, those blood sucking killer mosquitos of the deep have moved on. Probably to Belize to feast on those poor bubble blowers.

I think the Coz current is a branch of the Gulf Stream, so they'll go north then east toward the Florida Straits, then spin out into the Bahamas. ;)

I just got back last night, spent many hours in the water, I saw 2 jellies the whole time.... The only person I saw that got stung dove in a bikini, off the shore. No problems here. My wife and I wore at least a skin, she wore a hood, it ruled!!
My $.02

I just got back last night too. Dove last thurs. and day before yesterday as well. I saw no jelly fish at all. Water temp was a consistent 83 degrees and the weather was absolutely incredible. Will post trip report as soon as I can get a spare moment.
