I understand that Australian liveaboards often offer good discounts for last minute bookings. And, recently I've received quite a few notifications by email from various dive ops and liveaboards offering substantial discounts on upcoming trips...probably due in part to the economic slowdown.

Are there certain ops that routinely offer discounted trips? And, I was wondering how far out they consider a trip to be "last minute".

I'd suggest that you call the operator and see what they are trying to fill. I've had good luck doing so, esp. within 30 days of the trip date.
