Not sure where else to post this so here goes. Last week I went under the laser after being realy near sighted most all my life. WOW! Next AM I was 20/20 and 20/15. Never ever have I seen things so clear. Just a little discomfort and my left eye is awsome, right have some very mild irritation a week later. Getting better daily. If your considering this, DO IT!!!!!!! I had the Intralase which uses a laser for the flap removal then the wave front lasix. Mo betta than a blade cutting such a delicate spot. Best investment ever. Just wish I had been able to get this done 20 years ago.:D
Now, if I can get the same thing done to my fading hearing..........

Did you need reading glasses before and if so hows that now?

I had this done almost 9 years ago. Loved it. 45 minutes in and out for both eyes total.

Out for dinner with friends that night. Next morning for check up was better than 20/20 already. No pain. No problems.

Six months later the doctor couldn't find the scars.

Glad you had a great experience, too!

Are, there any diving restrictions after the procedure … besides wait a couple weeks ?

Very cool stuff indeed. I was -14 diopters, plus astigmatism. Had Lasik 4 years back. They actually slightly overshot the correction, went back for a touchup. It's been great -- clean 20/20 daytime, though it admittedly tapers a bit in low light (first driving license ever with no glasses restriction)

I'll have to consider-The surgery thing makes me a bit nervous

Yeah, the whole 'flap' thing is best not thought about. The procedure is quite painless.

Had it done 3 months ago. It is so cool to wake up at night and see the city light below with clarity. Diving is much better and I can't wait to go skiing.

Always hated contacts, but glasses and many things don't go together.

Do it, you won't regret it.

I had lasik six years ago. Went to the top surgeon at USC, it was just starting to be common then, and there were a lot of inexperienced people starting to do it. I strongly recommend going to a top notch place and not cutting costs too much.

I was 20/15 the next morning in my right eye. We aimed for something like 20/35 in my left eye to give me a "monovision" correction to minimize my dependence on reading glasses (I had been in bifocals for years). Overshot a little on the left, maybe 20/25. I need reading glasses for computer and newspaper, but this is no big deal. From a diving standpoint I can have a little trouble reading wrist mounted compass and computer, but not so much that it causes a problem - I guess I could get my arms lengthened!

At the time I wasn't too big on surgery of any sort, and it was interesting to lie perfectly still while the flaps were cut and the eximer laser "smoked" the tissue away.

After all the neurosurgery and everything since last December I would rate lasik as a walk in the park - a minor inconvenience. Walking into the wall on the way the bathroom at night and having ulcers on top of my ears from glasses, everyday of my life - that's not a major inconvenience, but its worth lasik. No question.
