Ok I admit it.....I'm getting better (older). I am also getting blinder. Has anyone had lasik surgery and had it affect thier diving? I am thinking of undergoing the Laser/knife.

I am NOT a doc but I play one on tv, lol. Seriously, many of my friends have had lasik and currently dive. I would call DAN and ask them just to put your mind at ease. They have a free 1800# for such questions. This is one of the many reasons why I personally advocate a diver choosing DAN over other dive insurance options. The research conducted is another reason.

Thanks Scubadoadoo.

The wife had it done 3 years ago. Aside from having to sit out for a few months to heal, she has had no issues with her diving, has logged 40+ dives since the surgery, and sees 20/15 without contacts. Enjoy!

I've had Lasik done about 7 years ago. No issues for me!!

Good luck! I know this is a difficult decision!

Do a search- there are a ton of threads on this topic, including my own.

Short version- had Lasik 3 years ago (I think)- no problems couple hundred dives since then.

Same here. My only issue was having to take a couple of months off diving. TIme your sugery well.....;)

I had it done, (lasik) got every side effect known to man but would do it again. I couldn't go to Disneyland the next day with my daughters chior trip. But diving two months later you bet!

Or.. talk to a surgeon who understands the hyperbaric implications. I took 10 days off.
