Ok, it looks like my wife (newly cerified) and I may be able to get away in May for a week and we are considering Roatan.

From what I can see the diving is very good and the prices are good as well.

I am strongly considering Las Rocas for accomodations and dive operator.

Who has stayed and dove with them?

What has your experiences been like?

Do you recommend them?

Cheers,

Michael

Wish I could help you. We are going in June and staying and diving with Las Rocas. From the information I could come up with I heard it was nice,, good restaurant,, small dive groups and so we booked with them.
A lot of people are all CCV and I have nothing to go on. We ARE going to dive but also wanted to add a little culture to our trip. Las Rocas seemed a good spot for us. Our two college kids are going with us and I want them to experince all there is.
It is a beautiful place and I hope you enjoy. Let me know how it goes.

I spent 2 weeks diving with them in Feb. The groups were small, dive masters good, attentive with my wife and daughter after they found out it was their first ocean dives. Boat captains a couple of great guys. In general I feel my family was very happy with our diving experience. Felt they were safe and also concerned about the reef and it's inhabitants. I would diffently dive with them again. As for the accomodations we didn't stay there but did see the rooms and my wife said she would have no problem staying there. It is a nice location on West Bay beach and close to Fosters restaurant which has some great weekly specials. Anything else I can help you with PM me.

Stayed there for a week 2 years ago - spent the first week at another resort and transferred to Las Rocas. Not a negative person but have been back twice since and not stayed there.
My wife felt it more than I did - but we felt nickled and dimed to death. Accomadation is rustic but clean - just needed a couple of chairs on the balcony. The accounting lady at the bar was intimadating.
Found the dive boats lacking - do not like climbing up on the flanges of the outboard motor. Dive Masters change with the currents but I found ours lacking ....
Our preference is Fosters - about 200 yards down a pretty impressive boardwalk - my best advice is to not not commit to more than the accommadation - once you get there you can walk down the beach ( what a beach it is ) and compare the various DS and what they have to offer.
The snorkelling at the far end of the beach is world class !!!

Have to admit lady at the bar can diffently seem imtimidating but after my wife talked to her for a while she warmed up. The boat access from the water has changed from the previous post as they do have big robust ladders for their 2 boats. Now ANEMONA Divers next door diffently (next to Fosters)have a nicer boat but we were satisfied with what we had. Fosters does run some killer deals at their restaurant,$6 burger fries and a beer,$12.99 2 lobster tails and 2 side dishes, just check their special board on the beach.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone.

We actually found a killer deal at Fantasy Island and booked there for May 16-23.

I'll let you know how we like it.

Cheers
