I just don't log dives
I know that Aldora and Living Underwater offer high capacity tanks as standard or an option. I was just wondering what other dive ops, if any, also use/offer larger tanks?

Thanks.

I know I used to be able to get a Steel HP 120 at Aldora. I like the Steel High Pressure tanks - because they are filled to 3500 psi, they are smaller (in total volume) than an Aluminum 100, though you do need a DIN fitting (rather than the normal Yoke fitting) for your Regulator. I have taken to carrying my own DIN adaptor with me, so I can use Steel HP tanks when they are available. I have gotten Aluminum 100s at Dive with Martin - because the Aluminum tanks are not HP tanks, they are larger & a bit more unwieldy; also, when near empty, they have positive bouyancy, so you need to plan on a couple more pounds of weight so you don't have to fight to stay down during a safety stop. The steel HP tanks are heavier, & maintain negative bouyancy for the whole dive, so you need less weight.

I can vouch for Blue Angel, Blue XT Sea & Scuba Tony being able to supply AL100's and I think they all charges $5 extra per tank. As someone who darts about taking photos extra air is of good value to me.

Most should be able to get you AL100s. I have used Al100s from BlueXT Sea a number of times and as Cicopo said it was only $5 per tank additional. Plus they are my favorite op!

Okay, I already know the answer, but I'm asking for a friend...

What exactly are the differences...

There are AL80s and AL100s.... I'm figuring the AL100 has more air... how much more, how much more bottom time?

There are steel 120s.... I'm guessing these are the biggest most capacity available? More capacity then an AL100? How much more?

Let's say on an AL80 our hypothetical diver gets 40 minutes, what would you get with the AL100 and the Steel 120?

Mike, I would assume that the number is the approximate amount of gas.

At Aldora, you no longer need a DIN adapter. They have yokes (?) that easily change from the two systems using a screw in adapter.

Don't think I've ever dove with aluminum 100's? I've used HP steel 100 and 120's. I reserved a larger tank from Blue Angel for our upcoming trip, I hope it's a HP tank.
